How Would You Like to Be a SLA-MI Officer? It’s Fun!

“Serving on the board is (nearly) painless and (mostly) fun, and you get the chance to serve the larger SLA community. You’ll meet the fascinating people who are your fellow board members and develop some new relationships that will help you out in your professional life. It’s a great experience and I highly recommend it.”
– Randy Dykhuis, current MI-SLA Treasurer

Want a little more background before you dive in?
Descriptions and duties for these positions can be found in the Recommended Practices document.  The President-Elect and Director positions are one-year terms and the Treasurer is a two-year term.  Terms of office for all positions begin immediately following the SLA-MI annual meeting (Dec 2012).

I have a pretty full schedule right now, Can I manage this too?

“This (time as chapter president) has definitely expanded my network. It also provides experience that helps me for work, and I feel like I’m making a difference. It varies on how many hours I spend, but I’d say I spend 2-4 hours per month.”
– Breezy Silver, current MI-SLA President

“I definitely like being able to meet other people and to be able to hear about the interesting jobs that they have.  I also like that I am able to use my mad editing skillz to work on a necessary project for the organization.  I don’t spend more than 2 hours a month on the Director duties and at least 30-45 minutes of that is the monthly conference call.”
– Jennifer Zimmer, current MI-SLA Director
